Legacy 5.0 Revision History

Final Version is: 5.0.0.260
Build Date of: 12 December 2006

12 Dec 2006 - Build

Calendar Creator - Fixed some issues with the Calendar Creator.

22 May 2006 - Build

Legacy 6.0 Compatibility - This new build uses the same file format as Legacy 6.0 uses.  This allows v5 and v6 users to share family files.

20 January 2006 - Build

PDF - We are using a newer version of the print preview engine and PDF creation tool. Hopefully this will solve some of the incompatibility issues that some are having with older versions of Acrobat Reader.

IGI Search - Updated Legacy to handle the new login method at FamilySearch.org.  This fixes an error 91.

10 August 2005 - Build

Database - This build will convert family files to a newer format that will match the files created by Legacy 6.0 when it is released.  This will allow users of either version 5.0 or 6.0 to share family files.  It's always a great idea to make backups before installing a new update.

IGI Search - Added a new IGI Search Option to not search for individuals who only have a Surname or Given Name. If one part of the name is blank these searches can take a long time and return a lot of invalid matches. It's best to uncheck this option and to perform searches first.

IGI Search - Added a new IGI Search Option to set the delay between searches. This allows you to slow down searches if the IGI servers are overloaded and slow.

IGI Search - Added a jump to this person in the list button. Look for a button with two arrows "<<" down to the right of the progress area.

Misc. Fixes

12 June 2005 - Build

Database - This build will convert family files to a newer format. It's always a great idea to make backups before installing a new update.

Questionnaire Report - The inclusion of the Opening and Closing paragraphs is now optional. The Christening/Baptism field is also now optional.

Name List - There is a new option to display birth-death years on names in the Name List. This helps you find the person you are looking for when you have several people with the same name in the list. This option is on the View tab of the Customize Screen.

Double-sided printing of reports - There are now two options when printing duplex reports: Double-sided (vertical) and Double-sided (horizontal). Vertical prints a list-style report where the pages are turned vertically, and Horizontal prints a book-style report where the pages are turned horizontally.

Internet Searches - If the person you are searching for has no start date or ending date we no longer fill in 2005 as the ending year. Both start and end years are left blank.

Pictures - During the Check Picture Paths if a picture was not found and the user browses to and selects a picture with a different name we now save that new picture name. We were only saving the new path location but kept the original name. This allows you to link in a picture that was renamed.

14 April 2005 - Build

IGI Search - Lot's of great improvements were made to the new IGI Searching feature.

AutoSource - AutoSource will now add the source to the marriage information, the marriage notes, and all events when the "Add source to all incoming fields that have information" option is selected.

This same feature also allows LDS users to search the IGI for completed ordinances. Simply click the Temple icon on the main toolbar and select Search IGI for Completed Ordinances from the popup menu.

23 March 2005 - Build

Pedigree Web page creation - Better horizontal ruler grouping between sections.

Potential Problems - The age settings on the Exclude from Potential Problems Report screens now match the current settings used for the Potential Problems Report itself.

Web Pages - Holding your cursor over the pictures on the web pages will now display the caption, date, and description for that picture.

21 August 2004 - Build

Names and Locations - When applying Initial Caps to the master Given Names, Surnames, and Locations from the Options > Customize > Data Format tab, there is a new option to "Convert entries that are already mixed case." By default this option is OFF so that specially formatted entries like "LeAnne," "de Brune," or "van den Hoganbann" won't be changed to "Leanne," "De Brune," and "Van Den Hogenbann." (This option is available when you click the Apply buttons.)

Source Citations - Citation paragraphs can now be printed with the first line indented (as it has been) or with a hanging indent.  The new option is on the Sources tab of the Report Options screen.

All Reports - The User ID number can now be optionally printed on a line of its own or at the end of each name. This makes it possible to include both the RIN and the User ID at the end of names if desired.

Descendant-type Book Reports - The "Birth and death dates on names" option should have been disabled for this type of book report as it just doesn't apply to them. It is now disabled.

Event Sentences - When you use [FirstHeShe] in an event sentence for a marriage, it will alternate between the couple's first names and "they". (It used to always use "they".)

Family View - Life year ranges, if displayed, now include special words like "infant", "young", "stillborn", etc.

GEDCOM Import - ADOP (Adopted) is now moved to both child-parent relationship statuses in Legacy instead of going to the Child Status field. (Older version of Family Tree Maker only had one Adopted tag in the GEDCOM file that applied to both parents.) Other child-parent relationship tags found in a GEDCOM file, such as "Foster" and "Adopted Twin" are now also put into the correct Legacy fields. "Adopted Twin" is now split into "Adopted" and "Twin" and put into the Child-Parent Relationship and Child Status fields respectively.

GEDCOM Import - EasyTree sometimes uses the wrong GEDCOM tags to indicate a blank line between two paragraph in a Notes block. Legacy now recognizes this pattern and corrects the problem when importing.

Pedigree View - There is a new option on the View tab of the Options > Customize screen to add the life range years to the names on the Pedigree View.

To-Do Report - When printing all To-Do items, both general and individual, the personal information for the individuals is included when the individual To-Do items are printed. (In the past, the personal information was only included when printing items for individuals only.

Web Page Creation - You can now specify multi-level folders for the Picture folder. For example: MyPics\Home\Pre1900. In the past this would generate an error 76.

9 August 2004 - Build
