Frederick was first identified in the 1850 Census of Neshannock, Lawrence, Pennsylvania. Asa Brown was the head of the household, and Eleanor is the mother.

Juliane Burbach, in an email dated 1 Aug 2000, found reference to Frederick's marriage on 12/9/1882 in Tippecanoe County, Indiana which lists his parents as Frederich Goaz and Elener Hoffman. Frederick was age 53. Probably a second marriage. The actual marriage record lists Fredrich Goaz married to Lovina Bartly on 9 Dec 1822 but doesn't list ages, parentage, or residences. Check for other marriage registers.

In the Goas surname message board at FamilyHistory.com, message #2 by Carol Van Stienburg mentions a Hanna E. Goas Haggerty, daughter of Frederick and Eleanor. She was born abt 1826 in Old Harmony, Butler, Pennsylvania. Assuming Butler County as a possible birth place, Frederick may have died here. He however was not listed in the will index, the orphan's court index, or the probate index of Butler County.

Found family in 1850 Census of Rockland, Venango, Pennsylvania. Elias is age 39, Hannah is age 25. An Elmira is a child at 12 years old. If Hannah were her mother, she would have been 13 years old at birth. Elias probably married previously.

In fact, the International Genealogical Index lists an Elias Hagerty married to Rachel DUCK 13 Jul 1837 in Rockland, Venango, Pennsylvania. After looking at the patron submitted form for this IGI entry, Mrs. Donald L. Pope of Brea, California submitted it. She is Elias' 3rd great-grandniece. Elias is listed here as 26 years of age, which matches the 1810 date we've discovered. The source for this information as indicated on the form is the Franklin Intelligencer, 25 Jul 1837.

Found Elias Haggerty in the 1840 Census of Rockland, Venango, Pennsylvania: 1 male age 20-30, 1 male age 30-40, 1 female age under 5, 1 female age 20-30. This suggests that Elias was previously married, and had a daughter born 1835-1840, probably Elmira.

Found family in the 1870 Census of Sandy Creek Township, Venango, Pennsylvania. Elnora, Elmira, and Mary are not with the family.
