Install from CD:
The fastest and easiest way to get the Geo Location Database file (GeoDB.gdb)
onto your hard drive is to install it from a Legacy installation CD (Legacy 6.0
or higher). The main advantages of the Geo Location Database file on the CD are
that it contains all six regions of the world, needs no lengthy downloading from
the Internet, no importing steps, and no compression steps:
-
Simply insert the CD and when the setup screen
opens, click on Install Legacy.
-
Follow the prompts and the Geo Location Database
will be installed automatically.
Copy from CD:
Another way, which involves more steps, is to
copy the Geo Location Database from a Legacy installation CD.
-
Put the Legacy installation CD (it must be version 5.0 or
higher) into your computer and when the Legacy setup screen opens, click
Close to exit.
-
Start Legacy, click on Options, then select Customize
and click on the Other tab.
-
Click the Database Maintenance button in the
Customize/Other window to open the Geo
Location Database - Setup window.

-
Next click Set to open the Set Path to Geo Location
Database window.

-
Change the Look in location to your Legacy CD and then
click Open, which takes you back to the Geo Location Database - Setup
window.
- Next click on Move to open the Select a Path for the
Geo Location Database window.

- Change the drive to C: in the bottom box, then in the top
box starting with the C: drive, double-click on each
folder/directory icon to browse down to the Legacy folder. If
the Geo folder shows (as in the above image) select it and click
OK. If there is no Geo folder, then click the New Folder
button and in the Create Directory/Folder window type Geo and click
OK.
- Please wait while Legacy copies the GeoDB.gdb file from the
Legacy CD to your hard drive. When finished, C:\Legacy\Geo\GeoDB.gdb
will display in the Geo Location Database - Setup window.
- Close the Geo Location Database - Setup window and click Save
to exist the Customize/Other window. The Geo Location Database
is now ready for you to use.
