1. Repair your Legacy program by updating it.

2. Reset Legacy’s temporary folder by
clicking on Options on the menu bar, then selecting
Customize and clicking the Locations tab. Next, click the
Reset button for the Location of Temporary File.
3. Run File
Maintenance - Check/Repair. Click on File
> File Maintenance > Check/Repair and follow the prompts.
If the error messages occur during the Check/Repair process,
click No to continue with the repair. Do step 2
twice if errors are found.
After doing steps 1 and 2, try Legacy again.
If the program works, you can stop here. No further repairs
are needed. If the program is still not functioning correctly,
proceed with the following steps.
4. Export your
records into a new Legacy family file:
A. Click File on the menu bar and select Export To
from the file menu.
B. Choose Legacy File from the submenu and proceed.
C. Give the file you will export to a new name and click Save.
D. The Export screen will open. Please click the large Start
Export button. (If you get a message about sources, click Don't
Assign a Source.)
E. Use the new family file and delete the old one when you are
satisfied with the results.
Try Legacy again. If the program works, you can
stop here. No further repairs are needed. If the program is
still not functioning correctly, proceed with the following steps.
5. If your computer
has Windows 98, Windows ME, Windows NT 4 and Windows 2000, please
download and install Microsoft Data
Access Components [MDAC] 2.8 RTM (English). (Not needed for Windows XP
or higher with all Service Packs. )
MDAC 2.8 contains the same version of the MDAC
components that are installed by Windows XP Service Pack 2 or higher
and Windows Vista and is supported on Windows 98, Windows ME,
Windows NT 4 and Windows 2000. To download the MDAC 2.8 please
click here.
If you get a message that your version of MDAC
is current then skip to step 2.
6. If your computer
has Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows ME, Windows NT 4.0 , please
download and install Jet 4.0 Service Pack from Microsoft.
The service pack solves several errors reported by
Legacy users. There are four versions of the Service Pack; please
choose the version that matches your Window's operating system.
There are two steps involved: downloading and running the file
installation.
